MADISON, MS LOCAL INFORMATION
Voter Registration / Drivers License - Voter Registration ~ Residents who have lived in Madison County for at least 30 days may register to vote either at the Circuit Clerk's office in the Madison County Courthouse in Canton (601.859.4365) or at your local City Hall. Mississippi is the only state that has not adopted Motor Voter Registration. If you register to vote at a public office such as a driver's license station or public assistance office, you are eligible to vote in federal elections only. You must register to vote in state and local elections at the Circuit Clerk's office, at city hall or through the mail.
Driver's License - New residents should obtain a Mississippi driver's license within 60 days of establishing residency. With a valid out-of-state driver's license, a road test is not required, but one must take an eye exam and a written exam. First-time drivers must also take a driving test. A regular license costs $20 (cash only) and is good for four years.
